If you're in the market, buy LUCID - you won't be disappointed.

yea. my firend and i got an absinthe making kit. pretty much we fermented the worm wood in vodka and everclear. it turned out alright, but i don't think its the same as real absinthe unless you use a still.  flaming shots of absinthe are pretty fun though, regardless! Cheesy

We tried the Lucid.  I enjoyed it  Cheesy, but the wife not so much  Roll Eyes.  It has a heavy anise seed/black liquorice flavor to it.

We bought it at Total Wine (8000 wines, 1000 beers- it's CrAzY!) for ~$52 - Kinda expensive, but I couldn't resist.

I had a friend bring over a bottle from France.  It tastes a lot like Sambuca - heavy anise flavor.  I tried to read the ingredient list (it's all in French) and I didn't see any wormwood in it Sad.

The label (in English) says:  "Lucid...  is crafted using a full measure of Grande Wormword (Artemisia absinthum), Green Anise (that's a-neese or an-iss in case anyone is wondering), Sweet Fennel, and other fine European herbs traditionally used in making... Absinthe."

For what it's worth I still don't see any damn faeries  Angry but I guess I'll just have to keep trying.  Smiley

I poured a little since I'm typing about it and while I'm sniffing it, all I can say is you've really got to like your black liquorice.  And I do.

I'd like to try that some time.  I like licorice.  But I don'tlike yagermeister.  Which is licorice flavored.  Beer is the best.

When I had the opportunity to travel to Prague, the gang I was with did some heavy bar hopping. One bar we ended up in was an absinthe bar. We each had about 6 shots of absinthe. You get a 2-3 oz glass, a spoon, and some sugar. The glass is full and you take a spoonful of the sugar, mix it in the absinthe and drink it. The sugar was much like confectionary sugar; very finely ground. The spoon was the size of a childs play spoons; maybe about a 1/4 teaspoons worth. Yes, every one of the 6 shots were very anise/licorice tasting. A lot like sambuca. No, not my favorite. I guess the affects are different for everyone. I was a very mellow fellow. This other guy was wondering around chasing puppies; that weren't there. Another guy thought spiders were chasing him. This chick was chasing everyone that walked by us like they stole something from her. Maybe it was mental, maybe it was just the Prague absinthe, maybe it was actually the wormwood or other 'special' ingredients.

I've purchased from these folks before.  Quality place and the owner used to be a regular guest on the Don & Mike show here in DC area.  I had the Absinthium 1792.  It's fantastic.  I didn't see any green fairies but I dreamed about them every night I drank this stuff.  FANTASTIC!

The site has the accessories as well as instructions on how to drink it.
