Hey guys and gals,
I came across this site while searching for March pump alternatives and it looks like y'all have come up with a wide range of great ideas for gear on the cheap.  Specifically, I got onboard with the idea of using a dishwasher pump for my new brewing rig.  I bought a GE WD19X10015 with the notion that at least one person has gotten things going with that particular pump.

So my pump arrived and after two fruitless trips to the local hardware stores, I have no idea how I'm going to plumb it.  I'm going to eventually be hard plumbing my brewing rig with copper or stainless so I'd like to attach 1/2" MPT or FPT connectors to it in a fairly sturdy manor.

Anyone have suggestions?

Looks like lots of reduces will do the trick, but flow is going to be slow. What are the dimensions? You can check out www.mcmaster.com This place has it all.

It looks like a 1/2" CPVC pipe will fit inside the inlet on the top, so I think I should be able to get a 1/2" elbow coupler in there.  I won't have the pump handy until I get home from work to take decent measurements.  I'll report back later.

After taking measurements, the inlet has 3/4" ID and 15/16" OD.  The outlet has 9/16" ID and 13/16" OD.

Im back.
I have some pics on the forum of my pump in use, but I really havent used it much since I havent been brewing. The flow seems to be just fine the way I have mine plumbed.
This Spring I hope to get started on my brew sculpture and will be buying another pump which will not be threaded on the inside. I will take my Dremel and cut off those rings so I can attach a larger dia. hose.

I'm really not satisfied with that pump setup, but it dosent matter as the pumps will be mounted on my sculpture eventually

Quick update:

After coming up with many ultimately flawed designs, I believe I have a winner.  I will have pictures in a few days once my silicone tubing arrives and I can test for leaks and flow.

I cut off the pump's outlet tube as close to the hose barb as possible, leaving a smooth outlet tube about 1.5" long.  Then I used a 1/2" NPT die to cut threads into the outside of outlet tube, which is now threaded with 1/2" MPT.

As I had managed to crack the inlet tube with some of my earlier trials, I sawed off the inlet tube and filed it flush.  I used a 1/2" NPT tap to thread the inlet hole.  I screwed a 1/2" stainless steel nipple into the inlet hole and sealed the fitting with food grade silicone sealant.

I basically used Mr E Brewer's design (hats off for him sharing it!) but was able to put a 1/2" fitting on the outlet without restricting the flow.

I have several of them and I use one on my 90 gallon fermenter in the meadery too. They are so quiet you can not hear them running. I have a march pump, but I prefer the dishwasher pump and I got them for $12 Cool
