Anyone picked any cones yet?
I think my Chinooks will be ready soon and I keep looking for the yellow lupin, but there is not much yet. The Chinook cones seem bigger toward the top of the pole.
The Cascades are at least a couple weeks behind the Chinooks, but have lots and lot of little fuzzy things, I think they will eventually bear way more cones than the Chinooks.
The other 6 plants are ho hum and I'm not expecting too much from them..........too bad 2nd year hops.

I have picked maybe a Quarter oz but they seem to have stopped growing I dont about hops here in Texas anymore I am getting discouraged after seeing yalls pics from further north thinking about pulling them and either moving them to a more shaded area or just maybe selling off the rhizomeson ebay and scrapping the rest of them,at the end of the year of course or beginning of next season

The problem is the lack of sunspots. And we had a lot of rian at the end of Winter and Spring was cut short when Summer came on strong and hot. It is killing my garden.

I have picked about 7 oz. of my nuggs so far and the phriggn plant is just loaded down with burs. Kiss   Kiss   Kiss

I got about 2 oz of cascades, and that plant is loaded with new burs too.  Kiss  Kiss

so far I have used 1 oz of each to brew with. Cheesy

I think planting them where they get some shade would be a good ideal down in south Texas. you all get some hard core heat. hell will be like a Sunday drive for you guys(not that you would ever go.)   Wink

I have a lot of big fat cones loaded with Lupulin Dust, but....not too many have turned to the light paper thin cone leaves that you look for before harvesting......I will probably start a light harvest next week with the major harvest 3 weeks later.

I am hoping to Harvest 110 ounces this season.  Did 102 ounces last season.

I just picked these Chinook cones this morning they were only about a 1/4 of the cones on the vine, the rest of the cones needs a week or two more. As you can see I only had a couple 2" long the rest were about a inch give or take. They all had the luplin around the stem, but I couldn't decide how papery they were. A lot had some brown spots on the leaves and I'm not sure what thats from, I have been very bad about spraying them for bugs this year.
The Cascades have a many many burrs so I'm expecting a nice harvest from them.

So far I've picked 10oz of Centennial.  That's before drying.  I probably have another 1lb coming from those plants.

Cascades are probably 1-2 weeks away.  Tons of cones!!!   I'm hoping for 2-3 lbs.

My aquaponics experiment is going well.  I have a single Cascade bine that's reached 20 ft and is beginning to sprout latterals.  Hopefully, that plant will produce a few first year cones.

The weather has been too cool in MI this summer.  What we need is a good month a hot weather.  In the meantime, I'm laying down all of the smaller shoots that I see.  They'll be next seasons's rhizomes.

Just picked 88 oz. of Liberty.  They're on an old screen door out in the garage, should end up with about a pound.   I sometimes wonder if standing on top of a 12 foot ladder in the hot sun is really worth it--of course it is!!  I'm kind of glad that some of my Liberty seems to not be producing very well because today's would be maybe one-tenth of the total harvest.  I don't think I could use 10 lbs. of Liberty hops...

My Cascades are almost ready and they look loaded.  Time to fire up the vacuum packer.

Anyone want to trade hops?

After Brijo said he just picked 88oz of Liberty hops I am ashamed to mention I just picked another 3.3oz of Chinooks.

Hey whats up with the Brown on my leaves. A lot of my cones had some brown on the leaves, because that part of the leaf was dead.
Anybody knows what is causing that.

Brown on part of the leaves is normal.  In fact, until you get a few hops with the brown leaves, you hops are probably not ready to harvest.

My 88 oz. have become 16.3 oz. which just might be all the Liberty I need this year.  Again, anyone want to trade?
